Fleur, 35, was presenting her Hits Radio breakfast show when she played a voice message from her cousin in which the medium revealed she was communicating with “a spirit called Malcolm,” who has a daughter that “sings or dances.”
The unnamed clairvoyant said Malcolm’s “daughter is about to start something. She’s about to start ‘an adventure,’ as he’s calling it. He says to tell her ‘I’m so proud of her and give her all the luck in the world’.”
Fleur told listeners: “In 72 hours I’ll be dancing live for the first time. It’s really exciting, but something really weird has happened to me ahead of the Strictly weekend.
“On Sunday I had a message from one of my cousins who had been to see a medium.
“I’ve never gone to a medium because I do believe in it. I’m quite scared about going because I never wanted to test it. But my cousin went and this happened…
“My dad passed away in 2020. His name was Malcolm. Apparently, he came through and wished me good luck ahead of Strictly.” Fleur added: “Is that not really weird? It’s eerie, but it’s really comforting as well. Leading up to Strictly has been so nerve-racking.
“I’ve been so anxious and not having my dad here for the first time before something so big in my life is huge. To get a message like that is the set up I needed before the big weekend.”
Previously Fleur said on ITV’s Lorraine show that she would be dancing in honour of her father.
“I’m going to be doing it for him,” she told viewers. “I’m just gutted he can’t see me do it, but I’m going to keep him in mind during the show.”

In 2020, Fleur paid tribute to her father on Instagram after he passed, writing: “Every note I sing, every song I write and everything I do will be for you. “Love you so much Daddy Darling. Have an amazing time up there. See you soon.”
After she was announced as a Strictly contestant, Fleur said: “It’s such an honour to be on the show after years of watching it with my father who loved it so much. “Unfortunately, my dad is no longer with us, but I know he will be watching over the ballroom in Spirit. I’m doing this to make him and my family proud, and can’t wait to get my dancing shoes on.”
Fleur was visibly moved as she took to the floor with her dance partner Vito Coppola for the Viennese Waltz and was in tears after they finished. At first she told presenter Claudia Winkleman that hard rehearsals were to blame.
However, she later explained: “Just before we danced, I went to see my family who were sitting in the audience.
“My Uncle Sean lifted his arm to show me his wrist – and he was wearing my dad’s bracelet. He didn’t even say anything to me, but just showed it to me and that set me off.
“It was just seconds before I performed. With everything else and just being nervous, I started blubbering.”
■ Fleur was runner-up in series eleven of The X Factor in 2014 and appeared on I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! in 2018. As a singer, she has released two albums, with her debut single Sax reaching number three in the UK singles chart in 2015.
