Readers choose
ERIC HATTON
as Psychic News'
Spiritualist of the Year
When we announced
our revival of the original Psychic News
Spiritualist of the Year Award
we had no idea how many of you would choose to nominate the special person you
thought most deserved to receive it.
In
fact, we've been overwhelmed by the huge number of nominations you've sent in.
It's clear that there are some amazing people out there - people who have
helped you, healed you, inspired you, guided you, taught you, given you great
survival evidence, led your churches and centres, and generally been shining
examples of how to live life as a Spiritualist.
Out
of those many individuals, one clear winner has emerged, and we're delighted to
announce that you have chosen Minister Eric Hatton as Psychic News
Spiritualist of the
Year 2012. Of the many complimentary words you wrote about Eric's contribution
to the movement, we've chosen to quote this from Dr Peter Keefe, of
Leicestershire, a Fellow of the Institute for Learning.
| I am delighted to
nominate Eric Hatton for Spiritualist of the Year 2012.
Others more
knowledgeable than I am will know the full extent to which Mr Hatton was
involved in ensuring the continuance of Psychic News and, if only for
his role in that, he deserves to win.
My nomination however focuses on Mr Hatton's unique
contribution to Spiritualist literature via his recent book Taking Up the
Challenge. That insightful memoir
casts new light on key events and characters within the movement and is set to
become a standard work of primary-source narrative history written by someone
who was embedded in and constructively involved with many of the major changes
and developments within the Spiritualist movement both in Britain and beyond.
