REALITY TV has featured problem pets in the past, but Channel 5 is taking things a step further with a new programme titled 'The Pet Psychic.'

Following its success with programmes like The Dog Rescuers and Jo Brand’s Kitten Rescue, Brighton-based independent production company Middlechild Productions is in the process of filming the series.
Although details are still under wraps, producer David Sumnall gave Psychic News a sneak preview of what to expect when the series of four programmes airs in the spring.
Chief reporter Ann Green asked David if the team at Middlechild Productions has a soft spot for working with animals.
“We’ve made a number of pet programmes before,” he said. “There’s that old saying ‘Never work with children or animals.’ “However, we love working with pets and children, but pets mainly. They’re just as unpredictable and put a smile on everyone’s face. I think that’s why this idea appealed to us.
“On TV you’re always looking for new ways of telling stories. This felt like a fresh way of bringing pet stories to life.”
The programme will feature pet psychic Beth Lee-Crowther, who has been a professional animal communicator, medium and reiki master for over twenty years.
Beth has appeared as a regular guest on ITV’s This Morning and Martin and Roman Kemp’s Sunday Best! TV show where she successfully demonstrated animal readings for both presenters and viewers.

The Channel 5 production will be the first series that entirely focuses on Beth and her work as a pet psychic.
Asked if he could say anything about the filming process for the new show, David replied: “It’s quite nerve-racking and exciting as a producer.
“Normally you can plan everything, but until Beth goes eye-to-eye with a pet we don’t know what they’re going to say.
“Beth will be making location visits. She’ll do a sitting. Potentially, we’ll follow it up to see what the result has been.
“We’re not only filming cats and dogs. I can’t say more at present except there’s a ferret involved and potentially farm animals too.” David acknowledged that sceptics may not believe Beth is actually communicating psychically with the animals.
“We’re hoping that this series will have something for everyone whether you’re a sceptic or a believer,” he added.
“We hope people will sit on the sofa and enjoy the show. Hopefully, Beth will be able to convince them.
“This feels very different to programmes about psychics who deal with humans. We’ve had a lot of people applying who say they’ve tried everything else and although they’re a sceptic about psychic powers are willing to give it a try to see how it might help with their pet’s problem.”
Psychic News will reveal the full details of the new series including an interview with Beth when transmission dates are announced.
Beth is one of the consultants at London’s College of Psychic Studies. Interviewed by The Mirror last year, she said: “I’ve been able to hear animals’ thoughts and feelings since I was the age of three.
“I could hear a voice in my own mind, but I knew it was coming from my pets. They’d tell me their likes and dislikes, what food they wanted and if they required anything like a trip to the vets… “Our animals have so much to share with us about their lives, our own lives and the meaning of life.
“They can make predictions about the future and offer guidance where needed. I firmly believe that all humans were born with psychic abilities and you just need to know how to use them.”
